At the foot of the Berkshire Mountains, a channelized portion of the Hoosiac River bisects thirteen acres of giant factory buildings. The abandoned textile printing mill turned electronics plant that once employed half the town of North Adams now houses a contemporary art collection formerly hidden in the DIA museum’s vault.
Vast galleries are interwoven with commercial businesses and community services. Former workyards become public venues for music and film events, revitalizing the town and enriching a network of art institutions within the region’s constellation of performing and visual arts.
